In September of 1982, Brother Ronald Glover traveled to Los Angeles, California, to fulfill a promise to his uncle, Pastor D. L. Jones, who had invited him to visit the city. Coming from the small town of Bartlett, Texas, he could not have known that this visit to the City of Angels would change the course of his life. Shortly after his arrival, he began assisting then Elder Jones in the ministry at The Living Gospel Outreach. He became the embodiment of Ecclesiastes 9:10: "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…." Elder Jones discerned early on that Bro. Glover had a call on his life, and he set out to aid in his fulfilling his potential. He placed him over the New Convert Class, which flourished under his leadership. He then assigned him to work with the Parents Take Action church auxiliary (PTA), a monthly meeting where parents were given parenting tools to help promote discipline and education in their homes. Again, he was instrumental in building this group into a productive auxiliary. In essence, Bro. Glover set about “mak[ing] full proof of his ministry”, preaching and teaching under the anointing of the Holy Ghost (2 Timothy 4:5).
It was in fulfilling his duties in picking up the Saints, that his eyes saw Sis. Katherine Caples. They married a year after his coming to the church. Shortly thereafter, he enrolled at California State University – Dominguez Hills, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. After graduation, he was hired as an Assistant Manager for a nationwide drugstore chain. He later was employed as a Social Worker by the Department of Public Service for the County of Los Angeles.
In 1997, the course of his life changed drastically again. He was ordained as pastor of The Living Gospel Church in Longview, Texas, by his uncle, who was then the Bishop of The Living Gospel Fellowship Churches. He, along with his wife, 6-month old daughter, Ambrosia, and his stepson, Charles, pulled up stakes and moved to Longview.
Pastor Glover embraced the charge that the late Bishop P. H. Jefferson had given to his successor, Bishop D. L. Jones, which was to take the people forward. He coined the church’s mission statement: “We have One Direction--Forward. We have One Goal--Kingdom Building.” Pastor Glover served the church faithfully for over 15 years. However, in 2013, he suffered a massive, debilitating stroke, making him physically unable to continue pastoring. With the assistance of his dedicated wife, Mother Glover, who has tirelessly and faithfully stood by her husband's side in his rigorous path to recovery, he has progressed tremendously and is able to attend Sunday and weekly services on a regular basis. We are believing one day that God will completely heal him, and he will be able to embrace what he loved most about ministry, teaching God’s people the unadulterated Word of God.
